Default Overall appearance care

Hi,

My G is on order, and I'm curious as to all the posts regarding the shine and care of the finish of the car. My current car, a Dk. Blue '99 Miata, still looks great after a regular machine wash. Is the paint on the G that much easier to fade, or are the owners here really after a showroom, amazing look for their cars?

After reading some of the posts here, I asked the dealer to install a clear bra. One thing I do not want is bugs/rocks messing up my front end.

I have been considering ordering a bottle of the Crystal Guard, as it seems easy to use with great results. I don't want to spend 3+ hours a week on my finish like Zaino users, but a nice loking car would be worth 1/2 hr every month to me.

Thanks all. Looking forward to the new wheels!!

1/2hr per month??? REVOKE HIS G haha

i think the G-bible requires a weekly wash that can be missed once a month with no severe penalty
and yes, iv heard many stories in all the forums of machine wash scratching Rims and Paint, so unless u wanna risk it...goto a self serve place and spend $5-7 and takes 20min or just do it at ur house
and dont forget to polish and wax every 6months or so

Page 22 of the "G" bible:
"Thou shalt not drive a dirty G"
"One hour per Saturday must be committed to the cleanliness of the "G"
"Thou shalt not worship any other "G" but thine own."

I would never drive it dirty, but I'm used to years of paying the $5 every couple weeks to have my car cleaned by a mchine. My apt. complex doesn't have a public use hose to wash myself...

I guess I'll find a do-it-yerself coin op hand wash place. Sounds like it's worth it. I'll probably buy some Crystal Guard as well.

Don't worry, felloe owners, I won't disgrace the name with a dirty car =)

Hey E, the cheapest solution is to ask a friend with a house if you can use their hose every week. If they complain, pay them $10/mo for water (about 10 times what you're using) and you're still way ahead of what those coin-op places cost.

Ha, the only thing, it's been below freezing for about a month now and all the hoses are either inside or frozen solid! I turned my in-garage spigot off so it would not burst when it when down to 6 two weeks ago. Coin-op for me!
