Default Best Motor Oil for G35?

Have been using the Mobil1 Fully Synthetic and Mobil1 filter. I recently switched to Quaker Fully Synthetic and a Bosch filter. Car has been running fine, plus I get to save about 15 bucks. Walmart baby.

Anyone have a recommended or preferred motor oil?

Whatever synthetic 5w-30 oil and filter special I can get at the local auto parts chains is my favorite at the moment. Auto Zone and Advance Auto usually have specials for about $30. The Walmart price is a good one too, but it's more difficult for me to get into my local Walmart supercenter.

Yes, I am. I have corrected my post above to reflect that.

I was told by the service manager at my local Infiniti that mineral oil is best in these cars. He said that I could run synthetic if I insisted, but that he wouldn't recommend it and would actually strongly suggest that I go with conventional mineral oil. Any thoughts? I was surprised...

Do they offer synthetic oil in their service department?

If they aren't selling it of course he's going to recommend what they have on hand.

Even if they do have it they might have a better profit margin for the ol' dino stuff.

My local infiniti dealer sells synthetig and will do an oil change with the synthetic oil I bring to them.

I don't know why your service manager would recommend dino oil over synthetic, unless it is so you won't prolong your oil changes which equals less profit to the dealer. Synthetic is superior in every way.

Do my own changes every 5000 mi. What I've used:
Castrol Syntec, Valvoline SynPower, Amsoil. Know some who run Pennzoil Platinum. All those 5w-30. I always use Amsoil oil and air filters.

Synth in general better than most Dinos. Our VQ's are hard on oil, so Synth is the way to go. My .02

Infiniti recommends 5w-30. The w comes into play only when the temperatures are below freezing.

Personally, I use Mobil 1 (cheapest from Walmart), but I've read that AMSOil is the best brand hands down.
