Default Cobb accessport and z tube

Hi I have a 2003 Infiniti g35 with the Cobb Accessport and K and N drop in filter already installed on the car. I am thinking about installing the Ztube on it to get rid of the restrictive g35 tube. Only problem is Cobb says you must keep the stock intake system on car or it could cause detonation. I really don't think changing the tube would cause that considering the 350z comes stock with it and its the same motor. If anyone is fimliar with the Cobb setup and the Ztube send me some ideas. Thanks

That is exactly what im saying. Cobb says that you can not use an aftermarket intake with the maps that come downloaded on the accessport. Maybe if you got a pro tune with the accessport you can run with the aftermarket intake but I haven't looked into that.

I bet anything what Cobb means by aftermarket is something like an AEM CAI or even WAI. The Z tube is made if the same plastic material as our...G tube, the heat soak from the aluminum would most likely throw off the Cobb maps.

my thoughts about intake heat soak

I bet the issue would be any change in air flow might cause the map to go lean (or rich but lean is the bigger problem) even if only in a narrow portion of it

that's makes a lot more sense.. I'm kinda high from all the painting i did today, then dehydrated from outdoor pressure washing, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

the reason cobb warns not to use the tune or A-port with an intake cuz the maps are designed around the airflow that aftermarket intakes cause or have a result....in other words ztube still may throw off the A-port since the stock intake has many silencers in it ....vs an intake which is a straight shot to engine....basically it will cause ur car to run lean or rich so its prbly best to abide by there warnings

From what I have read, the Cobb is actually made for the 350Z but can be used with the G35, so the Z tube should work fine.

Call Cobb and get an answer for sure.

When you say +1 I guess you are talking about the Stage 1 map? Where does it say on the Cobb website that the z tube will work an won't make the car run lean?

The O2 sensor monitors the exhaust for rich or lean mix, and feeds the results to the ECU to correct the injector load. The O2 sensor fine tunes the MAP and the MAF input.

Unless the flow gets outside the limits of the injectors, the O2 sensor should keeps the car from running rich or lean. Regardless of the type of intake ...
