Default Intake Systems??

OK, i just would like someone to give me the insight on the intake systems available for the G35 coupe.
I just went to http://www.infinitiwholesaleparts.com and saw the PopCharger with Z-tube for $219 and the Crawford Intake Plenum for $500 and $200refund when Plenum is returned. Ok explain what Plenum is please and which is better and why??? Thanks much

The crawford intake plenum is pretty much an intake manifold. this is the piece that connects your intake to each of the six cylinders. The stock intake manifold just like most other stock intake manifolds does not do the best job at distributing all of the air eaqually to each cylinder. The crawford plenum, creats an equal amount of distribution between all 6 cylinders. Only minus to this piece is that it looks ugly i think, but some people have used teh stock plastic cover to cover up the plenum. Next they say the Z tube will give you the best power out of all the other intakes out there. So Grubbs is sellin the pop charger and the Z intake tube for $219 as a combo, looks like a good deal!

I don't think the Z tube gives more of a power gain than the plenum. I've heard that they're both about the same value, and since the plenum costs ~8 times as much, I would expect it to give more power than the Z tube. I think the Z tube is estimated at ~5hp. Crawford says their plenum adds 17-20hp.

Mr.Seattle, if you get the Injen CAI I would suggest buying a bypass valve for it. With all of that rainfall in Seattle you can't be too careful to protect your car from sucking up water through the intake.

What about gas milage? Does the Crawford or Z-tube beat the other by a big margin? And is it true that the Crawford adds 17-20HP??? thats worth the extra $80 right there!!!

Its a Pop charger and Z-tube for $220 (Pop charger sells for $200 without Z-tube)...again, i have no idea about any of this so thats why im lookin for input. What is a pop charger? and does it with the Z-tube offer same advantages of Plenum Intake (17-20HP) for cheaper??? Also, do any of these things effect the infiniti's warranty??

I have no idea what a pop charger is.
The Z tube is different than the plenum; you can even have both at the same time. The airflow goes like this:
Outside car -> air box -> filter -> upper intake (Z or stock) -> throttle body -> plenum -> cylinders.

The plenum might be more likely to affect your warranty; the Z tube is a simple install, so you're not likely to break anything. Also, you can just swap the stock one back on if the dealer gives you trouble.

So for only $350 we can add 25HP to our car...this may be a dumb question but, are we losing any torque with either of these or are there any negatives to getting either one??

You can find that Z tube & pop charger for a lot less than that.

Adding power isnt as easy as just buying a intake that says it will give you 5hp and a Plenum that says it will give you 20hp and then adding them together for a total of 25hp. Each add on will affect it differently that is why it is best to keep your mods from the same company since they usualy test their cars with their products. So the power will probably only gain u a total of about 20hp, as far as torque goes the plenum says its gains are at teh higher rpm so im not sure what your torque figures will be againt he best way to figure it out is to dyno.

OK OK...iv read a lot of forums and done as much research as I can do with my limited knowledge on all of this. So it seems that the Z-tube has gotten rave reviews from everyone and its almost a must have.
Also, do i have it right in saying for the intake system i have a choice between...
Stillen CAB
Stillen CAI
Injen CAI (live in Florida so i should avoid)
K&N drop-in
Pop Charger (supposivly adds the most rwhp of all, on the Z atleast)

then in addition to whichever one of those i might get, i could still add the Crawford Plenum if i wanted...right???
