Default metal pedal install tips?

Can someone please give me tips on installing the metal pedal?
Is there any easy way to do it?

I was out in the cold, breaking my back for about 20 mins just to install one pedal.

Removing them is easy enough but getting one completely on is not easy. Help.
thanks~

I found that spraying some WD-40 on the inside of the rubber pedal makes it much easier to install. My 5AT brake pedal slipped right on with minimal effort. The gas pedal was more of a challenge because it is difficult to see the clip that holds the pedal on the gas linkage. I removed the top two bolts that holds the linkage rod to the firewall so I could turn the pedal over to see how to open the clip to remove the pedal.

I have my metal pedals on order, and on their way.
I also appreciate the information and tips.

I will let everyone know how it turns out.
I ordered the ones from the Infiniti delarer.[boink]

thanks for the tip!!!

Installation still isn't too easy, need to be in uncomfortable position and the following items will greatly help your install:
1. blow-dryer
2. mirror
3. WD-40 lubricant spray
4. lamp or flash light to see floor bottom

My tips for brake & clutch pedal:
1. pre-heat pedal bottom with blow-dryer for about 60 seconds
2. then spray it with WD-40 spray
3. wipe some WD-40 off with paper towel.
4. Insert the pedal starting using the two -> top and bottom hinge in the middle. Slide it in to get one side (either left or right) all the way in.
5. You'll need to use mirror & flashLight at the point. Using the flat-head thin screw driver pull the rubber out and complete the install.
Note: its easier if you pull the seat all the way back and stick your head all the way IN so that you can see behind the PEDAL!!!!
6. Good luck and hope that you don't get back cramp[]

Installing Gas pedal:
1. taking the clip on the stock gas pedal is really a pain!
2. Using the flat-head screw driver to rip off the plastic cover.
This is the most difficult part!!!! (be patient, and stick the screw driver and keep turning it so that you start destroying the plastic clip if you happen to get frustrated, since you won't be needing the stock plastic clip anymore[drunk]
3. Tip: spray WD-40 on BOTH the bottom plastic round thing before trying to stick it into the metal
and also on the plastic clip!!! It makes things alot easier.

Have fun, it should take you about 30-40mins of uncomfortable position but its well worth it~

The dealership wanted $115 for the pedals. I think I got mine from Grubbs for around $65.

My question is: Are they just for looks or do they feel better? (Both?) Anyone who has them (especially on a 6MT) care to comment?

I didn't use WD40 because of its lubrication properties. I just used heat and determination but the weather was warmer when I did it. The clutch and the brake are obviously the toughest but a mirror is essential to see what you are doing. Heat and small 4" long screw drivers helped the most. Took about 45 minutes to get them in.

As for what they do, the feel for the pedals is greatly improved. While the stock pedls feel slick, these do not. They grip the bottom of your shoe and keep them on the pedal better. Looks are secondary.

They look awesome. I'm amazed they didn't put them on stock. It goes with the rest of the interior really well. I don't know about feel. I don't know if you can actually feel the difference but if anything they seem to have a little more grip. At least from looking at them both in my hand.

My dealership wanted them to install them when I got the car for 230 bucks. I laughed my ass off at them. DUMBASSES. Its reasons like that where I almost didn't want to order my car from them.

Oh installing, yeah it took me about 45 minutes. Dead pedal and gas were easy. Maybe 5 minutes a piece. Yeah, I would say 15 to 20 on each of the small ones. Just work it in, thats all I did. I about gave up a few times but it worked out. I thought they were too small when I started. I said that they would never go on but finally with a little elbow strength they went on. Worth the 70 bucks from Grubbs

I don't think one would notice a night & day difference with the metal pedal vs. the stock one but it will definiately improve tracking on them.
Did we all mention that it does look really nice as well. []

I soaked the brake pedal in warm water to soften it up. Helped alot. Plus you don't have the smell of the DW-40.[]

thanks good idea, but one might not want to get water residue on the metal plate right?
In anycase, WD-40 doesn't smell that bad~[]
