Exclamation Vdc & Abs??

So I just picked up an 03 G35 6spd and it has a couple little issues. When started, 85% of the time the VDC will turn itself off without pushing the button. If it does not, and you dont turn it off, once the car starts moving it feels like the brakes are being applied and ABS is kicking in. Ive searched a bit but havent found anything

Also the drivers window goes up then backs down a few inches. For it to stay up, you have to hold the button for 10 seconds or so

Thanks guys and I look forward to making another beast out of this car

There is a "black box" that you can buy that will either remember the last setting or automatically turn the VDC off. It could have been installed by the previous owner.

Sorry I can't help you, but wow, that sounds really bad... I assume you didn't know about these flaws when you bought this?

Anyways, congratulations on becoming a G owner. Great ride. Don't know how anyone would regret it.

I guess they're not THAT big of a deal, but if it's wet outside and you don't feel like sliding around, you might not have much of a choice when you didn't realize your VDC automatically turned off. Also, that window thing just sounds really annoying.

That was Kevin Pierson's product. To my knowledge you turn it (VDC) off manually it stays off, however it shouldn't trigger an auto-off function.

Sounds like there's some electrical gremlins. I'd have someone look at the car, it sounds pretty buggy. Are there a lot of electronic aftermarket parts?

Adam, first welcome and good luck with the couple a bugs.

Regarding the window, sounds like the motor is funky and there is some limit switch that may need adjusting. Best done by the people that know, I could not tell you about that.

Just so you are aware, the correct operation is the window will snug itself up after you close the door. My assumption was to prevent that vacuum effect when the air pressure can't escape, the door needs to be closed several times as most have experienced on some other cars they may have owned. So the G allows the air to escape and then snugs up a second later.

Regarding the ABS feeling like it's on....Is the car lowered? If so, The previous owner of my car had issues with ABS kicking on after he lowered it and it was corrected with a proper alignment....Try having the alignment checked if it's lowered???

the car is not lowered nor do I think it has ever been. I doubt its ABS kicking on, just trying to describe the feeling it causes. Also forgot to mention that it usually turns itself off and once its off, the button will not turn it back on. The button does however turn it off if it doesnt automatically turn itself off. make sense?

The passenger window works just fine and does move up the extra inch once the door is closed.

Im just waiting to get the VDC thing checked out so I can put my 20" VOLKs on

The only sensor located in the wheel is for tire pressure. The VDC/ABS can be triggered if the steering wheel was screwed around with.

When I had my engine work done the idiots disconnected the steering wheel and turned it. It was enough for the yaw sensor to think that my car needed help. If this is the case it's a pretty simple and cheap fix to get the sensor adjusted properly.

I actually took it to a buddy here and he hooked it up to the computer and it threw the code for a steering angle sensor. He adjusted it and teh check engine light went away but the VDC issue stuck.
-The brake light does not come on so I dont think its a fluid issue

Oh yeah the steering angle sensor will do it all right. My car was OK until I decided to move, then it wanted to try and make me turn right.

Took it to the dealer and it was fixed up in a jiffy.

Glad you found the problem, but you might have to physically move the steering wheel prior to rehooking the angle sensor.
