Default 03 Speedometer into 05+ Speedometer

Does anybody know if it's possible to change out my 03 Speedometer/dash into the newer 05/06 Speedometer?

and from miles --> kms?

it is possible to change from 04 to 05 speedo. i have seen people do it, but i also heard there are a few complications involved IE: not just plug and play.

not sure about the KM to MPH. have to get recalibrated i assume.

Search on G35driver.com. There are a couple of threads about it, but it isn't plug and play. The wire harnesses are different and it will require some customization. I don't know about changing miles to km.

So I talked to some service people at Infiniti...

and they said that they're not allowed to do that, so maybe some shady garage would do it.

Their reason behind this is that they have to be consistent with the parts to the vehicle to follow the DMV rules i think it was...some kind of authority binding essence that restricts them to do so, it's super sensitive for them to change those things because they need to get the mileage right, etc. etc.

Also, one of those speedometer things at Infiniti will cost you 1200 bucks.

there's no way that thing costs 1200 bucks..my guess is that they made it more expensive than changing any other regular part of your vehicle just to minimize the number of people changing the speedometers/odometers.

What a Scam!

You're never going to get a dealer to do that. If you want to do the swap, get an instrument cluster off of ebay.

i wouldnt exactly call that a scam... why would they care if you change your speedometer!? it sounds like you're not familiar with dealership pricing. 1 wheel costs about $1,000 from the dealership.
