Eh, it's called Placebo. As long as you pull on people you're suppose to beat, and hang ok with the big boys, you're fine.

Mine feels like that sometimes, but I think it has to do with me not punching or downshifting as much as I use to because of gas prices.

I agree that the car does not have that whipping of the neck feeling off the line or even when I get it to 4-5k. I recently drove a wrx and that car felt faster when it spooked at 4k but I believe it is the nature of the induction.

I think there are multiple factors such as the true performance numbers of the g but also the quieter interior, the solid handling characteristics, etc. One of my many hand me down cars was a 92 civic and that thing felt crazy fast as the light body sounded like I was an 1/8" of sheetmetal away from the asphalt and while understeering through corners (still miss that car though).

I think there is also the fact that we are used to the speed. When my wife or my friend are riding along with me, I wonder why their left hand is reaching for the dash and their right hand is holding onto the overhead grab handle for dear life when I turn.

If you want the "sensation" of speed get into a '88 Toyota Tercell, yeah with the 4 speed tranny, and drop the clutch anywhere around 4k and sit back as you go to warp speed and you hear them 13" tires howl like Halloween.

I have a hard time believing anyone who stooped to drive a Talon knows anything about the majesty or performance of the Eclipse GSX. - just kidding. Were they the exact same car? I know they were close. I always liked the Talon better. I would have liked to have not had a giant wing on the back of my car. Was the weight the same?

Anyway, I've come to the conclusion that my earlier opinion is the result of being spoiled by a turbo charger and not knowing the best way to drive a non-turbo V6. After one year (officially in another week) of owning a G35, I have a better understanding of the power band and the RPM's. It is a thinking mans car. I still wish it were faster, but I'm enjoying the ride.

Later note (9/9/2008 )
One of the biggest contributers to the slowness I had been feeling was the +/-10% ethanol in the Premium gas at the BP station that I'd always used to fill up. I posted on another thread about this. I really believe that after filling my tank with Premium non-ethanol at another station, I felt more power and began having more fun driving my car. Hard to believe, but it is true. It wasn't until I noticed the ethanol sticker on the premium pump at BP that I realized there might be a problem.
