I recently installed my first mods, which were the MD 5/16" spacer, z tube, and k&n drop in filter, on my 04' coupe (6mt).
After those mods were installed, i drove the car and it felt awsome. I could definately tell a difference through the entire powerband. Needless to say i was very pleased.
A few days later, i installed mu y-pipe back Fujitsubo exhaust. It is not a True dual, which in my opinion shoulndt really matter. I know that it wont make as much power as a true dual, but i wouldnt expect it to lose power.
I cant say for sure if it lost power or not because i havent had it on a dyno, but it just feels a lot more sluggish through the gears..........
Anyone know why this would happen? Im thinking that the exhast is too big without having any HFC's on there.............Next week ill be installing my berk technology high flow cats to see if that will help it recover, but i just dont know if it will.....
Anyone ever expirience this or know why it would feel slower after the exhaust install?
Could it just be that maybe you put on your exhaust the same time the weather started heating up? The car suck balls in hot weather... well atleast mine does
The thing with cat-back exhausts is that you won't really make any gains... they usually shift your power curve, so in this case, you'll make more power at higher RPMs while losing a bit on the low-mid.

No... that should shift your power curve up even more. But when you get rid of that huge restriction, you should be able to rev a bit faster and make gains all around.

will the nismo s-tune exhaust system have the same effect?
As you know, I am also running the full Fujitsubo exhaust on my G as well. Initial low end loss in an inherent result of going with a true catback system. Power is made up in the mid to upper ranges. I do not feel my car to be sluggish compared to my OEM exhaust. Ironically, I had tried the K&N, to include the pop charger, and had since decided to just go with the paper element with z-tube. I do know one thing with the VQ35, it is a fine balancing act when implementing any breather mods to an engine that has been factory tuned to its utmost potential (factory stock HP output of this high compression V6 engine). Opening up more breathing can make low end loss more apparent. This is why I will end my NA mods with the Motordyne 5/16 spacer and MREV2. There will always be a give and take with our VQ35s when it comes to adding any NA breather mods. The NA environment is a bit more challenging when trying to hold on to every little ounce of low end power while trying to improve upon overall (final resulting) output.
