Exclamation Seat belt issue! Help!

Hey Everyone,

I just purchased an 06 G35 Coupe 5AT. I absolutely love it, except for one major issue. The seat belt rides way too high on me, almost choking me at the neck. I really don't want to use tacky seat belt adjusters. With that said, anybody have the same issue? And if so, any solutions? I've been contemplating taking it to the dealer, but I'm not sure what they'd be able to do or how much it would cost. Please help!

Also, I'm 6'2". so that may narrow my options...

Hello DP15X, and welcome to 6MT. I don't drive a coupe, but my wife does have a g37 coupe. She complained about the same thing initially until she figured out that the belt guide/holder (by her left shoulder) was adjustable. Have you tried that? At 6-2", I suprised you're even having it hit you at your neckline....are you leaning the seat wayyyyy back? Also, I don't care for the looks of them, but I've seen some people use and swear by those lambswool pads that go over the belt at your neck/shoulder.

I didn't think that the seat belt guide was adjustable, so I'll have to check that out. I've also ordered seat belt pads, so maybe those will help. Here's to hoping for the best...

1st generation coupe = no adjustable seatbelt...

different from the g37

horrible design.. it digs into your neck!!!!.. plus the seat belt buckle is way too high..

you can get a seatbelt neck pad.. that's what i use and it helped...

quick google search: Seatbelt Shoulder Pad

I'm about 6ft tall.
I have the same issue on my 06 6mt, i found that the clip where the belt connects to at your hip is on a fairly longer cable than the passenger side.

This causes the belt to ride high on your neck unless you raise the seat up really high.
Seems like they wanted some slack to work with incase someone wanted to be sitting up really high.
I'm tempted to swap out the clips from passenger to driver side as i don't feel like sporting a ugly shoulder pad in my nice interior
