as u know someone stole my 4 wheels, and now my car is at infiniti dealer, my insurance work out with my dealer and came out with the amount of 6,854 dollars ( wheels are 1200 each front and 887 esch rear plus little damage on the sidekit)...so my question is can I buy my own rims and have infiniti to intall it?? cause my car is already at infiniti, will the say no, and tell me i need to get the factory ones, because my insurance dealt with them first and came out with the amount...I still have to pay the deductuble ans my plan is get nice rim cheaper so I dont have to pay the 500, will infinity allow me to??
stick that check in your pocket and go buy aftermarket. Even if they are asholes if you provide them with the new rims/tires they may charge to mount them, you still have a ton o'money in your pocket.
I think I want to have my wheels stolen...

$4,174 for wheels/tires!!!! HOLY CRAP!! that is an absolutely awesome settlement dude. That is plenty of money to get yourself set up.
You should not fear your dealer; they can't make you do anything and probably would be happy to accomodate you if you asked them. Besides, it is your car and your insurance check. The dealer may prefer to sell you their rims and make more profit off of you, but I can't imagine them pressuring you to do that. Many dealers will put aftermarket rims on their new cars (and sell them at a markup), so they shouldn't have any problem putting aftermarket rims on for you. I would expect the dealer's concerns would be about
1) turnaround time...if you are waiting on rims ordered elsewhere.
2) liability... for any non-standard rim fitment or spacer useage.
If you are at least offering your business to the dealer, you have NOT taken advantage of them in any way and they can choose whether or not they want to do business with you. If they don't, then by all means, go somewhere else. A quality tire/rim store will almost always charge less than your dealer anyway.
I believe you are legally allowed to decide what happens with the insurance money. I think there is no way they can require you to have new OEM rims put on, you can get some 20 inch volks for that price.... lol.
one more think i forget to tell: yeah, but how I am going to take car out of dealer, without the wheels. here is how my car got to the dealer, they sent a guy with 3 spares wheels plus mine in 4 then i called infiniti road side (free) to tow it to infiniti dealer...if I decide to take my car somewhere else, i cant do it withou wheel cause 3 of them are from the dealear
they cant force you to buy the OEM's. now, the only problem is, if you're going to out and buy some aftermarket rims, i don't think the dealer is going to allow you to keep your car parked there while you wait for the rims.

I suspected that might be case; in which case you might as well try to work with the dealer. It may cost a little more, but shouldn't be a deal breaker if they're reasonable. Negotiate for your supplying the wheels and tires and their supplying the labor to put it all together. If they insist, ask to speak to the service manager or the general manager. Let them know it won't be in their best interest to take advantage of you after you've already been ripped off once. If they won't let you supply parts, ask for their very best quote on exactly what you want.
If that is too outrageous compared to what you can get, tell them to FO, and go to a major tire/rim specialist in your area and talk to the manager/owner there. Tell them your situation. They may be willing to come get your car with temporary wheels and take it back to their shop, or they may be able to mount up your replacement rims with tires and basically install them onsite in the dealer's parking lot.
Whatever you do, don't fall for the dealer pressuring you to remove your car immediately...they should give you a reasonable window of time to arrange for the removal of your car....otherwise they're basically blackmailing you and I would report them immediately to Infinti's corporate customer support.

F-that I'd be seriously thinking that there is some fraud going on here. What insurance adjuster is going to pay out that much for replacements? Not even at a dealer can they justify that kind of cost.
If the dealer hedges at letting you buy the wheels & rims yourself, I'd seriously think that someone at the dealership has a deal with the insurance adjuster. If they just say OK, bring us the wheels and we'll charge a nominal fee (like not more than $100) to install them, then I'd say the adjuster is a moron.
