I just purchased the fujitsubo exhaust for my g coupe, and it will be installed on friday. I went with this exhaust compared to others because i was told and read several posts about how this exhaust is not much louder than stock and doesnt produce that nasty raspyness that other aftermarket exhaust can produce.
I am most definately thinking about getting a y-pipe in hopes that it wont cause raspyness...
but my concern comes with installing a test pipe with a high flow cat installed on them, which to my understanding are just resonators, which should potentially help to reduce the raspyness you would normally get when removing the catalytic converter......
but are these highflow cats/test pipes really even worth it? I DO NOT want that raspy sound what so ever, and if i will get it, then i have eliminated any thoughts of buying them...........
so i am looking to you guys here on 6mt to give me some input as to what to expect in the ways of power gains and also in the tone of the exhaust!!

Test pipes are different from high flow cats. Test pipes are just pipes and some are resonated. HFC's are catalytic converters, but they allow more flow than the stock cats.
I prefer HFCs becuse test pipes will require the installation on non-foulers, or something else, to keep the service engine soon light from staying on, and test pipes will also cause the exhaust to really smell because of the unburned fuel vapors.
I don't have any lights or small with my Crawford HFCs.

thats my bad assuming that they are pretty much the same.........i used to drive a honda, and the high flow cats that people like megan racing made, was just a resonator......not actually a catalytic converter........but, thats prolly why they were only like $50.
how much did you pay and how much difference did you notice when you installed the high flow cats? is it worth the money to get me that extra little bit in my quest for 13's?
If you are trying to get into the 13's, HFC's will help relieve some constriction of the stock cats. Test pipes will flow a little better, but then you have SES light issues and smell issues.

yeah, i understand what the difference is, sometimes my words dont come out right, but i do understand.
i dont want to have a clean sounding note without rasp, so if i were to upgrade, i would do the hfc's. also, i do not like lights, especially the ses light so i would go that route no matter what.
how much louder will they make your car? i dont want a real loud exhaust, and thats the reason i have the fuji exhaust....
HFCs usually make the exhaust note a little deeper and a little louder, but it's not that noticable.
thats good to know. I saw some hfc's that were made by UTR i believe. they looked like good quality and were $398 directly from them on ebay......anyone care to give inputs on this product?
