I agree with you, mward. There is some basic understanding of tires that is missing from that tire dealer who sold the off-size tires. It seems like a dangerous tire size to me.

If you use a larger diameter tire, then you raise the height of the car. This would negatively affect handling. Also, a change in diameter affects the speedometer if it is in the front.

The stock 19" wheels won't really allow a wider profile rear tire because our rear wheels are only 8.5" wide. The wider profile for the rear would be 275/35-19 to be the same as the stock tire diameter. This size requires a wider rim than we have (minimum 9.0"). I would not want my tire to come off its rim when I am driving!

The Tire Rack lists all specs for tires of almost all brands and sizes. Our choices are very limited with the stock 19" wheels, so just load your data into TireRack.com and pick from the choices. I have been a happy customer of Tire Rack for years.

if you want performance go with slicks! you'll have to change tires every 50 laps around your neighborhood though

UPDATE:
Got the bf goodrich g force kdw's... They look awsome and feel amazing while driving... Definitley a huge different from the OEM bridgestone 245's. a bit pricy, paid nearly 1300 with replacement plan and tire sensor rebuild kits, etc.. but they look and feel awsome.. sizes are 275-35-19 and 245-35-19

nice choice...you'll be very hapy with those!

I know I'm replying to an old post and I don't even know if the OP is still around. Just trying to get some sort of confirmation that 245/35/19 and 275/35/19 is working out on the stock (06' G35 Coupe 6MT) rims. Also if someone else has pictures of this particular setup would you mind posting them? Appreciate any insight as I am looking to get some new tires soon.
