Again; a bit off topic but since the thread is about buying a used/new etc car; figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Thanks in advance
Here in California, you'd pay your fees to DMV when you register it. The back of the pink slip has a place where the buyer states the transaction value and the 'transfer of liability' form that the seller submits has a similar value statement required from the seller...I suspect that DMV expects to see them match!

Though I would never suggest doing such a thing myself , I've heard tell of some...ahem,... unnammed individuals coordinating with their sellers to...ahem, ... "mis-state" the actual transaction amount indicated by both buyer and seller; so as to lessen the resulting tax levied upon registration. Of course this opens up obvious liabilities and should only be attempted by the truly brave/stupid -of-heart!

Good luck on your purchase!

Default bought g35 6mt new in 06/2006

Hi,

I bought my G35 new from the dealer, I think the deal was OK and knew I would loose value just for buying new. I did it because the financing on new actually made the monthly payments less, because the dealer was able to get me a lower interest rate than the bank could. I also was able to get the newest stuff in the 06 compared to the available 04/05 models on the used market.

I just went over 40k last week, I am told I will need brakes in the near future and this is the last summer I can enjoy the original summer tires. I don't think that is too bad.

I've had problems with the passanger door whistling, that I have taken in twice and need to have them look at it again.

Got mine new in January for $28,900. I ripped off the dealer... It's a 2007 with sport tuned suspension (19" forged wheels) premium package. No navigation though. I kinda laugh at the guy who thinks he got a good deal for $27000 on a that 05 with 15k miles on it. Not a terrible deal, but nowhere near a steal.

Purchased new.. July 03 production date. Sept 03 delivery. Full MSRP at $34,000 plus change. I know all the TSBs by memory.. and am still counting my window motor replacements. Still a good value for the investment, and with 26,000 miles after 4 1/2 years it still looks like a new car. The tires are the main culprit for owners selling but since I only drive 6K a year I can see ownership continuing for another 3 years with my extended warranty. I do have to keep my foot light on the gas pedal with 14-15MPG city. Thank god it's a good looking car or I would be driving a PRIUS by now! lol

Bought my 06 Coupe new. Had bad experiences with buying used cars... never doing that again.

USED is the only way to go!
I'm also considering a purchase of an '05 Coupe for $25 including all taxes/fees. I just posted a thread about it and would appreciate some comments. Thanks

Wow, that sounds like a great deal. Which state are you in? I recall reading posts about dealers in other states offering around $5000 OFF MSRP or more when the new body style came out, but not here in CA. I'm considering an '05 fully loaded coupe for $25k out the door, but I wouldn't mind waiting for the 09's to come out and snatch up an '08.

This is the biggest tax sham in the nation. How many times can the same product be taxed? Why pay tax again on a used car when it was paid by the original purchaser when it was new? I'm not advocating breaking the law, but I think this law in CA stinks.

I got my car in Chicago from Field's Infiniti. I had found a 6MT at luxury motors downtown, but that one I couldn't get below 30,500 (someone on this forum actually bought that car!) and were giving me $500 less for my trade-in. The cars had almost an identical sticker price (same options and trim diff of about $200).

Personally, if you can afford it, I think you should wait for a deal on the 08 G37. The interior isn't as much better as I'd hoped, but it's definitely an improvement over the G35c. Also, the nav screen is much better integrated into the dash and the gauge cluster is nicer. One thing I don't like is the exterior styling but I'd still rather have the G37 considering I'll be spending more time inside the car than out. Oh you can't forget about the extra HP either, of course.

You should be able to pick up a G37 at invoice.

I totally agree. If you think that's bad though, try inheritance taxation
