Dude- that sounds crazy- I would've taken it BACK to the dealership and gotten another 1 and gotten some sort of compensation too from those c0cksluckerz.
And buying new is the dumbest thing ever unless you have $$$ to burn.
I got my 04 in May of last year with 15K miles on it for $25K out the door, 6 sp/everything but navi.

I like the fact it has the warranty and everything but according to KBB I have already lost like $6k and have only owned it like 9 months.
When I drove it off the lot, it had door squeaks and rattles, the sunroof was completely LOOSE from the factory and popped when going over speed bumps. I had to get 4 panels replaced and the doors STILL rattle & Squeak to this day. Also, the driver's window had rattling but the dealer finally got that fixed... What a headache.
Since it was a black car it had spiderwebs, swirl marks, etc. that I didn't notice since I bought the car at night after work. They did their best to fix them, but I still notice the difference. I advise anyone to never buy a car at nighttime.
Anyways, just bitching, but I don't think a new car is worth the $$price premium of a used or certified. Needless to say this will be my last $40k car but I plan on keeping it a long time. Putting $1k tires on her every 15k miles is killing me. Also, the dealer sold me on some paint protection crap which was $1200 bucks and diddn't do jack shit. Total rip off.... Discuss.
got mine NEW back in april '07... nav/prem/sport/6mt.. and the color combo i wanted for just under 35,000... (not including tax).. drove off the lot with 30 miles on it..
currently have 5,500 on it.. no problems (mechanically).. except for sunroof pop, and 1 or 2 rattles..

I bought it new in 2005 and plan to keep it for ten years, if I can afford the premium gas and tires . I have had no problems, and the G35 is so much fun to drive. I have no regrets buying new if I keep it for a long time.

First brand new car. 2007 6mt sport package. 55 miles, extended warranty 34,000 all together with taxes. not bad I guess. 6500 miles now with no problems yet but some dumb kid hit a softball over the fence and put a small dent in the trunk. Dentpro popped it perfectly lucky for the kid. love this car.
How much did you pay? Extended warranties are a BUNCH of BS. Especially with a "rappa-neese reliable" car. What were you thinking, dude?
I cannot stand the looks of the g37, so I am happy to have THE newest breed of the now dead g35. What a gorgeous car.. I have wet dreams about her glossy NXT exterior....

madinsane- I know about the extended warranty deal. It is BS because if major electronical malfunctions occur its usually within first few years or months from what I hear. but they evened it out by dropping my interest rate so the numbers were the same I negotiated. Paid total of $30,500+2,000(extended raping) + tax= $34,500 total.(without aero or premium pkg). But I agree w/ you we have the latest g35=sickness.
Bought my '05 5AT new. Loaded. Still had the paper/plastic on it when I test drove. 5 miles on the odo. None of the squeaks/rattles that I see others have had. 31,000 on it now. Negative camber is chewing the tires. Just replaced the tires 1000 miles ago. Looking for camber kit for front and possibly rear. Bridgestone says they can't get the rear camber in spec.
go to dealer for alignment ... mine charged me $70 and brought the rear back into spec and the front was tweaked a bit.
select a tire with a solid outside edge and it will wear better.
How do you like the Toyos? TR1's I assume.
Buying a used car is usually the better financial option. But buying new is still smarter than leasing. Now that's dumb. I never leased a car, always bought used within my means and when I finally came into some loot I treated myself to a new G35. I can nicely affored the depreciation without the guilt, and enjoy the new car ownership. Pretty simple.
The ranting about tires, brembos and black paint is childish. The G35 is really nothing more than a regular Nissan with performance tires (that wear out at virtually the same rate on most cars) and $$ Italian brakes. While sexy, the Brembos are really not worth it. The later Nissan brakes stopped in the same distance, and while the Brembos fade less, they still are not up to track duty. So why bother? As for black paint, the problem isn't with the G but with black paint. It's true of any car. Black looks great new, but inevitably turns to shit. All three of these continuing complaints about the G are something a smart person should have considered when looking at the car. They are well documented and should come as no surprise. I have an '05, thankfully without Brembos, and really view only the tires as the only excessive cost of the car. No, I don't consider regular Infiniti brakes an issue. Anyone can replace these for far less than what a dealer charges.
So let me ask you guys something (get ready for a stupid question).
If one buys a used car from a private sale (let's say the car is listed at 25k); do they only pay 25k or do they pay for 25k + TTL like you would at a dealership?
Again; a bit off topic but since the thread is about buying a used/new etc car; figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.
