17. After 15000 miles, it was time to replace the in-cabin microfilter.

18. Installation is the opposite of removal. A couple of things to note: Make sure that the new microfilter is pushed all the way back and should rest even on both sides.

19. When replacing the filter cover, make sure that the plastic tabs on the backside of the filter cover slide underneath the microfilter while closing to avoid damaging the microfilter.

20. That's it! The job should take an hour or less to perform from start to finish.

Nice writeup. It's a really simple job if you know what needs to be done.

Some auto parts stores carry the cabin filters now. I just picked up a Purolator filter at Advance Auto Parts on sale for less than $10.

Good call, and I bet it is better than the OEM version too. I do recall seeing a DIY for adding a charcoal filter element to the OEM microfilter over on G35 driver too.

I just did this and it took me under 15 minutes from start to finish. One more thing that you might want to do is take a few minutes and clean out the inside of the filter housing. It is a little tight in there but I used a few clorox wipes and wrapped them around a toothbrush to get in the nooks and crannies. It actually made the ac unit smell a bit fresher...

This post makes me glad I had the dealer do it. I just know I'd have scratched some finished surface, broken some tab, lost a screw or damaged something else in the process. I'm usually handy with stuff, but these small area jobs drive me crazy. Totally worth the $100 to have the dealer do it

AutinG35, you rock man. I am all set to tackle my filter change tomorrow.
You made life just a little better. Too bad they don't give out awards for best filter change documentary. You'd win!
Thanks

Thanks man, in retrospect, looking back, the task isn't too difficult even if it is your first time, but since I have OCD, I tend to take my time doing each step. Any normal person could probably knock this out in about 30 minutes or less. I have also been told that if they make a charcoal filter, that would be a better option too.

Update on Micro Filter change. Start time 09:45 AM
End Time 10:10 AM

OK, me and my son worked on it together, not hard, not bad and $12.28 and 25 minutes sure beats 150 bucks at the dealer. hehe
