I've been reading up on tires for the past couple of days and I still don't know what to get... I've been reading reviews, threads on diff boards and asking everyone + their momma's I'm hoping 6mt.net can share some wisdom based on my info.
Wheels are 19x9.5 f 19x10.5 r GT-C's +24 offset all around
I couldn't care less if they're noisy or not...stockers are pushing 21k miles and they're loud as heck. If I can deal with that roar, I can deal with any other noise. As far as tire sizes I'm pretty set on going 275/35/19 rears, probably 245/35/19 fronts. I've seen how the rim looks with the 275's (toyo's specifically) and it looks good enough. If I do any track days, I'll most likely just get dedicated track rims so that will not factor in. Other than that I do some spirited driving now and then - mainly average daily driving and slightly aggressive on the weekends.
I'm likely going to drop the car on H-techs and leave the oem shocks in until they give out, then switch out to Tein basics next spring or sooner if the oem's go.
It looks like I'm between kdw-2's and toyo t1-r's. Does anyone have any recommendations aside from these two tires? Any preference between these two?
My requirements or wants, in order from most important to least, are:
1) longevity
2) performance
3) price
4) noise - vortech will drown it out
The Falken 452 I think they were, I gotta check I forgot. They're a lot quieter than my Pilot PS2s, plus the treads last longer. Performance I'm not too sure about because I don't really push my car or track it. the Falkens are a lot cheaper too about $200CDN cheaper each tire.
I have no complaints with my BFG KDW's. You should be looking at 255/35 and 285/35 tires.
I have a friends rim with the same size/offset setup with a 275 and although it looks a little stretched it's not as bad as I would have thought. The tire is a toyo t1r though and not sure what a diff brand tire would look like.
I'm tempted to go 255/285's, but it's an extra $150-$200 for those sizes and not a lot of places carry them in stock. My local shop can get them, but wants $270/ea for the 285 toyos - they're not carrying the kdw2's, but will order them if I really want them.
Gilley - are you running those size? For that matter, is anyone running 255/285? Pics?

That's what I'm getting too.. just not so sure about the size yet.

I run 255/30/20 and 285/30/20 KDW's. On my car, the 285's are still a little stretched on 10.5 wide rims. I'm considering the 295/30/20 Toyo Proxes 4's next time though.

I recently replaced my OEM Michelin's with Toyo Proxes TR-1's on my stock 18" rims. For the first few hundred miles I was very disappointed. The ride was like my wife's sedan smooth (much smoother than before) but the handling was like I was riding on flat tires, sloshy around corners..I could feel the back end wobble when I hit turns with high G's. Since then a few hundred miles I either have learned to deal with it or the tires have smoothed out a bit because I do not feel as much wobble on turns anymore. The Proxes are definately worth the price if price is an issue but the handling is what I fell in love with on the G. This has made we think about buying other rims for days when I want to go driving for fun and wrap them with the Michelin Pilots then keep the current rims for daily driving and wrap them with the inexpensive Proxes. I paid for all 4 $668.00 from the Internet. The dealership actually matched the price so I had them installed there.

I ended up going with the toyo t1r's because that's all I could find in stock anywhere. I went with the 245/275's and they're great so far. My stock tires were so worn that these tires make the car feel completely different. I agree they do feel a little sloshy and soft, but they grip pretty well. I'll need to drive around a bit more on them to get a better feel for them, but for the price they're excellent.
I have Falken 452's on my stock 19's. 245/35/19 (front) and 275/35/19 (rear)
