Default 18" tires... front tires wearing out faster than rear

hey guys... this is my first rear wheel drive car and i've got low 20K mileage on it.. Been gettign ready to replace tires but my understanding was that my rears should go out first. My fronts are definitely wearing out faster than the rears... should I be concerned or is there a good reason for this?

Additionally if anyone has any good suggestions for tires other than the stock Pilots I'm all ears... I do al ot of commuting and I find the Pilots a little noisy for my liking. thanks!

ES100 for tires cheap and aren't noisey at all, and make sure you get an alignment every 10K.

The rears should definitely wear out first. Get an alignment check when you get new tires.

I am a big fan of pilots actually, the only problem is that they are so damn expensive. Bridgestone makes a decent tire as well, but you have to make sure you get the right one or else you won't be happy. I've heard good things about a few other tires, but I like Michelins the best.

THanks for the input guys. I guess I really do need to check the alignment although my last couple visits I would ask about ti and they always said it was fine. I have a friend w/ S2000 who told me his fronts wore out earlier first and he never had alignment issues, just couldn't explain it.

I have already started looking at tires and the Bridgestone Potenzas seem to be a decent fit and they are a liil cheaper than the Pilots. My main concern is road noise, anyone know how they are in this category?

I don't own a G yet but I thought I read on here that because of the suspension setup the front tires will feather after 20k~ miles, and that's just how it is. So I don't know if it would actually be ab alignment problem or just the way the car is set up that causes the fronts to wear as fast as they do.

I like my BFG KDW2's a lot. Get them if they come in stock sizes.

Just about all Coupe front tires are somewhat noisey as compared to the sedan. Some tire patterns are worse than others as well as worn tires having the worst noise.

Just did the Bridgestone 960AS on the front and rear. They got a very high review on Tire Rack and were supposed to be among the most quiet and run about $150 per tire, but any of them are pretty noisy on our cars. My '04 6mt G35 had 15K miles, when I replaced them, but I did all four and got a credit for the unused portion on the fronts. The rears were pretty worn, but the fronts had 50% tread.

Default G35

My fronts wore out first also and my front end was fine from what I read it is the camber thing that causes the problem. I bought a used 2004 G35 with 20,000 miles on it. Every G I looked at had wear on the inside of the front tires and that was when I started doing some checking and found out why - the camber thing was the answer - there is a lot of info about it on this site. I just changed the brake pads on mine and put new dunlops on it. i really like the way they look and about 80 to 90% less road noise then the pilots. The break job was the easiest one I have ever done - instead of spending 450 at the dealership I spent about 40 at autozone and did it myself and they work great.
