what exactly does the VDC do ? Is this why my car feels a little slower when its on? cuz like.. sometimes when i press on the gas... it feels like its a little sluggish.. then it picks up....other than the fact i drive a 5at?
vehicle dynamic control..... pretty much helps keep the car on the road during wet conditions, in some cases dry conditions when you punch the gas and your tires try to spin, it sends electronic signals through a computer to your braking system when it senses tire slippage
it saved my life - and it also when shut off "in dormant mode" will allow the driver to drive faster but still will step in as a safe guard when you spin out of control.
if you launch pretty hard, to prevent slipping, like phelan said, it will cut the fuel to the engine...thats why it might feel sluggish if you are trying to floor it with it on.

and yaw control. will prevent a spin out by individually braking wheels. but i agree, it is THE fun stopper...well that and driving with lame girlfriend.
"Vehicle Dynamic Control" provides 2-dimensional control by sensing the transversal movement of the vehicle and its yaw (rotation around the perpendicular axis). It uses these data to predict the vehicle's direction in 2 dimensions and to control it within safe limits. The system recognizes the course a driver wishes to take from the steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. It detects the current driving conditions from the wheel speed sensors, longitudinal and transversal G sensors and the yaw velocity sensor, and simultaneously estimates the coefficient of friction (potential loss of traction) of the road surface. It uses this information to predict the actual direction of the vehicle, and minimizes the difference between the desired and predicted course by controlling the driving and braking forces. When a potentially unstable situation is predicted because the desired course and the cars actual course differ, the braking and driving forces are controlled to regain stability. Vehicle speed is also limited if necessary by reducing engine output and torque.
Basically turn it off when you get inside the car, unless you have passengers.
It should be called "TFE" for "The Fun Eliminator", don't let the computer drive your car - you should drive your car!!

Normal driving - makes no difference - turn it off though if you want to have some "FUN"
Although it did save me from spinning out and going into a giant hole once. I took a turn that I take every day a little faster than normal and a car pulled out in front of me so I had to swerve to avoid it (was going too fast to stop or anything else) and the car started to spin out - I started to bring the wheel back over to keep it from going horizontal through the turn . . . The VDC kicked in and I don't know what it did exactly but the car straightened out instantly as I was just beginning to correct for the skid that was "about" to happen.
oh and the other GREAT _ GREAT !! feature is ASSISTED BREAKING. When the car senses a "panic" break it helps you apply more force to the breaks and stops you faster!!! This saved my front bumper when a dumbass SUV decided to slam on his breaks after missing his driveway!!! people are idiots!
