Well justs i was just sitting in my car today listening to music in a parking lot waiting for my gf to come back out of a store and when she comes back in to leave and i turn my engine on my service engine soon light comes on... my car has 29.7k miles roughly... i was thinking it could be because my 30k service is due soon... anyone know?

is that even legal to force customers to pay to have that stupid light turned off??? I thought they stopped doing that!!!!?????
Check your gas cap ZERO - I had my Service Engine light go on about 2 days after a fill up. The gas cap has to click 3 times. After I took it off and put it back on... about 10 mins later on the highway the light turned off.
Easy solutions are the best ....

pfft u guys wish... and i dont think that its my gas cap... i filled up today and its still on... i dont think i made the same mistake twice... i always make it click a few times, but i'll check as soon as i get off of work.... thanks for the advice guys... if not i'll take it to Infiniti and see what they tell me, but i got the same light at 7500 miles when their service is due or something, i think it might be the same type of thing
Most likely it's the 30K service. Mine came on around 60K. I took it in for service, and it turned out one of my belts was cracked! Get that light checked out just in case it maybe something else.

You know what my pullie belts have been squeeling on cold starts now for a while... just havnt had the time to take it down and have them tightened... do u think it could be something to do with the belts throwing that light?
Zeroscythe, that could be possible. Another thing that I noticed, at 30K I did not get a service engine soon light. I did however at 60K. It could've been coincidence, but my car has never given me a light to get any major service done. Then again, I've got an 03. Not sure if that makes a difference. I'd say try what Randy suggested, if the light still doesn't go away, get it checked out..

this happened to me about a month ago. i was coming home from going out on a fri night when i stopped to get gas. when i turned my car back on, the check engine light came on. i thought it was the gas cap, so i tried that. 'no luck. the dealer told me to wait a few days, and if it was the gas cap, the light would turn off. 'turns out it wasn't the gas cap. it was the throttle positioning sensor(whatever the hell that is). it's a warranty item, so they fixed it in a couple of hours. from what i could tell, the car drove the same when the light was on and the sensor was bad. they said i should have noticed the car being a little slower than normal.
btw, the light doesn't come on when your car's due for scheduled maintenance.

the light doesnt come on with the 15K 30K and 60K services. It has nothing to do with that. They are not meant to turn on close to the service times thats all just coincidence. Try resetting your ECU if that doesnt work just take it in, its no biggie.
