yeah I love my new G,but I did the richard petty drving experience and it was amazing...
I did 8 laps at lowes motor speedway in a 650 hp car... holy sht it was crazy and i almost hit 160 on ht elast lap... pretty sweet
right now they use old busch series cars or nascars (probably 5 or so yaers old, i talked to one of the crew guys), they take thse old cars and just replace the body wth fibergalss instead of the tin and metal bodies they use in real races... recently they have started making there own cars which they will use soon.... they are around 650 hp v8s, and you cant even imagine how it feels to shoot off the line, i gotta say its around 3 seconds at most 0-60. the four speed manual made it more fun because you could stay in first a long as time, before shifting which was real weird. it was great and i recommend it for anybody.
Only $399 for the rookie experience(eight laps following a pro)... prices go all trhe way up to 3 grand which are about 50 laps with pit stops etc... its well worth the 400 to drive and they also have a ride along for 100 that you ride with a professional at about 175 mph.. i did that a while ago and it was awsome
Andy Hillenburg is a longtime ARCA/Sometime Cup driver that runs a driving school similar to Petty, et. al. In addition to Lowe's, he runs schools at Michigan, Atlanta, Bristol...check out his website @ fasttrackracing.com. I have been to Lowe's on several occasions, the most recently two years ago for the 3 day with Fast Track as well as some of the other "Driving Experiences". The big difference at Fast Track (imo) is that they let you go as fast as you can comfortably and safely drive. Their program ramps you up over several sessions, but there is no following an instructor car and in the 3 day session, we finished up the day with 25 laps, three students and one instructor in a 2 by 2 at around 175. It was November and I was soaked. It's a great school with great instructors/crew...It is the closest you or I will ever get to feeling like a Cup driver.
