I installed the Stillen rear brace in my '06 6MT yesterday. Overall, things went well. Today however, I can't open the trunk by inside release, rear push button, or remote. The manual releases for the rear seats are located in the trunk. I obviously disconnected an electrical line to the trunk release. Any ideas as to how to open the trunk?
I read another post saying that there is a red string you can pull from the inside of the car... does anyone know where that is ... and we are talking about a coupe...

can you get inside the trunk from inside the car?
there is a safety release that is on the trunk lid inside the trunk (go in the trunk and look up). its not red...it glows in the dark in case anyone actually gets locked inside.
yes... we know that. but with the trunk locked and the seat closed.... how do you open the trunk or lower the rear seat or take the rear seat appart in order to get to that glowing manual release on top of the trunk lid (on the inside of the trunk)
None of the buttons work because the cable going to the lock got disconnected! help!!!

There is a latch release for the rear seat. Reach under the center of the rear seatback. The strap is a red nylon loop. Pull it to release the rear seatback. Reach inside trunk and pull emergency release on underside of trunk lid. Also, make sure that the trunk release lockout is not activated. It's in the glovebox.

I will look for it 1st thing in the morning. hopefully I will find it Thanks!!! I'll let you know.
Reached in and found the red sting!!! and was able to open my trunk!!!
THANK YOU!!!!
Speed DR - thanks for originating the post
Well - I am officially dumb! The wire going to the lock in my trunk slipped and got caught in the hole for one of those pins that holds the carpet/ cover on. So I accidentlly cut part of the wire.
I'll have to open it up and reconnect it when I get home from work tonight! Ahh... done so much electrical work to many cars and this is the 1st stupid thing... I must be loosing my touch ... oh well a cut wire is nothing to cry over I guess - nothing a little electrical tape won't fix - just hope I didn't blow the fuse for it or short something out.
Thanks to all who replied. I just got a chance to open it, and found that I had inadvertantly cut the latch release and trunk light wires. As cmrz said -- at least it's an easy fix.
I found that I cut one wire completely and partially nicked 3 others from that bundle that goes to the lock. Shit happens. Got it fixed and working fine now . Thanks again to everyone !!!!
