I have been meaning to put a new Red Top in my car, as it is almost 4 years old. I went to the local car audio shop to get an amp kit installed. The owner recently bought an 06 6MT and is turning it into a show car, tein drop, twenty inch wheels (I forget what kind, black w/ huge chrome lip) 3 twelves, DD conversion, blah blah. Anyway, I was talking to him about getting an Optima, and he said that the Gs and Zs take an "R" battery, I assume standing for reverse. He said that the cables are not long enough to reach a regular battery, as our terminals are reversed. He went to an Autozone or something to purchase one, and it had like a $60 dollar premium, and of course had to order it because no one carries it. Since I couldn't buy one from him, I assumed he was telling the truth because he would have no financial gain in lying. I didn't check the G myself, but I went to Orielly's and ordered an Optima R for $155 out the door. I didn't ask the employee at Orielly's, I just assumed. So my question is, has anyone changed the battery in their G, and does it take an "R"?
im assuming your right, i went to autobacs recently and they were having a sale on optima batterys when i asked about it i told the guy it was for a G35 coupe, and he said the sale didnt apply to me because i had to special order my battery because they're different then convensional batteries. Thats all he said he didnt give me any specifics but im assuming ur right
