yesterday i tried mounting my factory summer tires/rims, but i ran into a snag. i removed my winter rims (ASA JH3) and noticed the little black plastic ring was still on my car when i removed the rim. i tried mounting the summer rim/tire with this plastic ring still on, but it didn't allow the rim to get close enough. i put the winter tire back on and pulled it off, hoping the black ring would stick inside the rim, no luck.
any advice on how to remove these black rings? if not safely, how can i destroy them to remove them without hurting my car?

thanks!
did you try pulling them off with a needle nose pliers?

They are 'hub centric rings' and you WILL need them to properly center your winter wheels next year. If you leave them off, you will almost certainly end up with unacceptable vibration. If they are plastic, no biggie if they are destroyed in the removal process. You should replace them with aluminum rings anyways, IMO. See more HERE.

+++1111. You'll definitely need them again if you plan on mounting your winters again at a later time. They should slide off so don't use too much force.

wish i read that before winter. i think there is some rust corosion, and the plastic ring is stuck to the metal hub. i don't think i will be able to remove without destroying the plastic ring. i guess next year i will get aluminum ones.
wow, road salt sucks. From my experience, the rings fit tighter to the inside of the wheel than the outside of the hub. If you have corrosion, then you might want to treat the hub before you put on the Al rings.
As far as the hub centric rings, you probably won't notice the vibrations until you hit higher speeds. But always a good idea to have them.
You might want to find out the inside diameter of your wheel's hub and the outside diameter of the the g hubs, just in case. They make differing sizes and it depends on the wheels you have. Good luck. (G coupes have a 60.x mm hub... I might be a little of on that, you might want to verify.)
