Default My thoughts on K&N/Ztube

I have had this combo on my car for about a week and a half now ( one tank of gas). Just wanted to share my opinion for those thinkin' about this upgrade. First I did not feel any increase in power, but thats expected, even though minimal gains are there. What I did notice was that the engine seemed to run smoother through the entire rpm range. I did not notice any difference in sound, which some on here have said there would be a more aggressive enginge note, not! What I did see, was about 30 extra miles on this tank of gas, and that was with the same driving as before if not harder just to test the upgrade. Taking that into consideration, I would highly recommend this upgrade to anyone thinking about it. It will easily pay for itself, in a very short period of time, plus the extra hp is there, just cant feel it!!! Just my opinion though.

You won't hear the difference in the exhaust note unless you get on it hard and tach it up past about 3300 RPM's. After that, you should hear a pretty noticeable change in the sound of the car compared to it's pre-ZTube days.

If you really want to hear the difference in note, you'll want to have the windows rolled down, and maybe even try it next to a building or while under a bridge. It's not just that the car is slightly louder, but it actually has a completely different note at higher RPM's.

partyman, I tend to drive with the windows down as much as possible even if it gets cold here in Houston, cause I still love the sound of that exhaust. I just haven't noticed any difference in sound, at least none that I can hear, the car just still sound amazing, the g's have one of the best exhaust notes out there. Maybe its me, but I love the sound regardless.

i'm changing one at a time. i put the k&n in last weekend, and i'll see what that does after one tank. then i'll change the tube. i think it's smoother with just the filter alone though. nissan/infiniti should be ashamed of themselves. that paper shit i pulled out of my car before i put the k&n in was a joke.

btw, did any of you put the sticker from the filter on your cars?

I got the filter when I bought my car, and its great for gas mileage. Can someone explain what exactly the Z tube is and what its supposed to do...is it worth changing? My understanding was that it changes the exhaust sound only...so what are the other advantages of installing one?

Screw the gas milage!!! That's why I have two midgets in the back. They push my car around town.

from what i understand, the z tube is the black tube that connects to the air filter box in a 350z. we've got one too, but theirs is better. the shape of the 350z tube is better for gas mileage and air flow than the one that comes in our cars. it looks like it'd be pretty easy to install too, but it's kinda tight in there. i think it's only about 80 bones as well. that's not bad at all.

2 midgets?

Tisk tisk... going with substandard aftermarket mods... I hired Barney Rubble, and that's why my gas milleage is soo great and car soo fast.

Plus Barney's dumb as shit so he works for free and he's used to getting yelled at by another bossy guy, and just does what he's told. Chicks think it's weird though that I have a half-naked cromagnon man chillin in the back of my car all the time, but if they bitch.. i'll just throw them through the hole in the floor of the back seat and find a new squeeze, preferably a redhead.

Hmm, Barney Rubble. Nice!!! Well, I got two midgets and they work for food scraps I leave in my car from time time. Chics dig em and they do all sorts of tricks. Flip off bad drivers as well. Plus I have turbo midgets because I keep a six pack of RedBull in the car. Better than NOS!

So you were going with the whole 2 small people instead of one big one, type deal.. kinda like 2 small turbos instead of one big one.

Do your midgets spool quickly?
