Default Lacquer thinner and G35 paint

I recently got my 05 coupe (Sep 05), and I have noticed that bugs and scratches (I have 2 very small ones, less than 1 cm on the side) seem to blemish this car easier than my 98 Honda Prelude. Also, I used to use lacquer thinner all the time on the Prelude. I would put some on a soft cloth, and it easily removed bug, tar, and paint marks from otehr cars. While trying to detail my car this past week, I tried doing the same, and I noticed that it doesn't work as well, it almost seems to stain the paint itself briefly. So I quickly stopped and bought some Scratch X. That seems to work fine, but it some light scratches do remain, whereas before on the prelude scratches were not as easy to come by. Could someone answer the following questions:

1) Is lacquer thinner safe to use? (A car detailing shop first gave me the idea)
2) Is Scratch X safe to use all the time?
3) Is the G35 paint just overall weaker? ( I've seen the front chips issue, but what about the side)

Thanks for your help!
Will

nissan paint is complete $hit. You will notice A LOT of people complaining about it ALL THE TIME! As far as lacqure thinner...sounds dangerous, but I honestly dont know. Meguires should be safe, it is a reliable company. I would wax the car, that seems to keep most things from sticking to the paint when its time to clean. hope that helps and welcome to the forum

Meguiars is the way to go. Yah The paint on Nissian/Infiniti cars are weak and relatively thinner than most cars. I would recommend you get a clear bra. And anything with "thinner" would mean taking off something.

Thanks guys. I did have a clear bra for the prelude, although I realized that I really didn't need it that much after taking it off during the 6th year of the life. I was just wondering if lacquer thinner would eat through the clear coat if used like rubbing alcohol. I mean, obviously if I dumped the whole thing on my car it would surely hurt it. But I use it for 7 years on my car and it always had good results, and it's inexpensive too, although money is less of an issue now that I'm no longer a poor college student. Could someone asnwer the lacquer thinner question? (Oh, btw, the prelude was pearl white - 3 layers. My g35 is brilliant silver - 2 layers. If that is relevant to this issue.) Thanks for the warm welcome too. I've already gotten a lot of helpful info, and I look to contribute whenever possible.

yes that does play a big roll, the more layers of paint, the thicker the paint is. The thicker the paint the more resistiv (if thats a word) the paint will be.
