anyone want to start a group buy on an aluminum dash kit?
Hey guys, my neighbor just got this big vinyl decal on his car today, and he was bragging to me. i notice he had a 2 tone decal, bottom was grey, and top was brushed aluminum. i asked him who did it and he said a buddy of his has a shop and did it. i had him call up his friend and see if it was possible to use that same material on our radio console. he called his friend and found out the brushed aluminum is not vinyl, but is instead made from mylar. he told me it will stick fine to our console, the only problem is where our console curves on the side and that might be a problem. he also said there are a bunch of alternatives to that and he will come by sometime and take a look at my car and let me know if it will work. i think this will look GREAT on our car. i don't think it will look cheap or fake at all, it looks JUST like actual brushed aluminum. its a really thin layer so its not going to look cheezy like those aluminum dash trim kits out there. this is just a basic layer to stick over your plastic radio console to give it to look the 05's have. he told me for sure it would be well under $50 for sure. this is because he has to measure and custom cut it. i told him if i get a few people can he do it for even cheaper and he said yes. I didn't get an exact number, but we're looking at probably like $20-25 each. is anyone interested in this group buy? i know you guys can't say yes without seeing pictures, so i will have him check everything out and get a final answer. i just wana see who would be interested in spending 20 bucks to make your plastic radios look more like the new 2005 models. i can probably have the 2 door handle ones thrown in as well in that price. he's willing to do it for really cheap, because it doesn't cost him anything. just the labor of measuring and cutting. (the materials are cheap at bulk)
