Default Winter wheels/tires for 2005 coupe

Hi All,
I am trying to decide on whether I am going to pick up a 2005 6MT coupe. I live in a very snowy+hilly area and have read all the posts about the G35 being fine as long as you put good snow-tires on.

"Great!" I think. So then I start doing some research on tirerack.com and tires.com and I am having a hard time coming up with winter wheel/tires matches that work.

I saw the article on this site re: 17" RS-6 rims fitting. If I put model year 2004 into the search, those rims come up. If I put 2005 in, they do not.

Does the 2005 have a different fitment requirement than previous models? Are there any 17" wheels that will clear the '05 6MTs brembos? If not, what does fit? If I cant get snow-shoes on this baby, the deal is a no-go.

TIA!
-Greg

The 05's don't have Brembros.

tire rack has some cheap rims with snow tires that'll get you through the winter andthe '05 just has bigger brakes than the 04 automatic and they deleted the brembos for '05 due to the fact that they weren't warrantied while the factory pads/rotors are 3/36k warranty regardless of wear and tear

Thanks Kenny,
I tried tirerack but it comes up with "None Found" for wheels when I go to to the Winter Wheels/Tires packages with the '05 Coupe 6MT selected. I tried the 17, 18, and 19s (Not that I would want 19" snow tires, per se. I was getting desperate . The are a handful of tire choices, and no rim choices according them them

Maybe I am doing something wrong? Should I not try to use the "Winter Package" section and just pick the tires/rims seperate?

In addition, if you go to the regular wheels section, only 19,20,21" rims come up as selections. If you put in an '04 there are plenty to chose from down to 17".

Am I just SOL? Does anyone actually have an '05 with snow tires/wheels?

I guess I will have to consider the Sedan afterall.

Thanks for the replies.

I suggest you do what I did. Go to Ebay and buy a set of replaced 17" OEM Wheels from a Stock G35. I got them shipped for a total of $350.

I then bought a slightly used set of Blizzaks on Ebay for about the same. So total package deal is about $700. I'm sure you can find something similar if you look carefully. There are many that swap out the rather plain looking stock 17's for better rims, so there are plenty of nearly new rims to choose from.

Good Luck!

I would call Tirerack directly cause i remember when i got my 03 i had the same problem where it wasn't popping up on tirerack's website but they had an assorment of rims that fitted in my car.. I would also recommend getting BLIZZAKs these tires are awsome in the snow and never let me down.....
