Default SERIOUS Bug Problem

Hey,

Okay this is really weirding me out. Just about 1.5 hours ago, I washed my car myself. But right before washing, I noticed my front bumper had a freaking army of dead bugs on it! I know all the bugs and stuff come out during the summers here, but I have never seen anything like this before.

I am guessing this happens because of the ram air intake setup located right behind the front chrome grill, but this is my second or third summer with my G and I have never experienced this. Anyways, I just thought you guys would find it pretty funny....it's like my G is a bug-killer.

Thanks,
MrElussive

go buy some 3m clay and some detail spray or use some soapy water and go to town. The clay should pull everything out of your paint, BUT you have to wash the car before and after you clay then re-apply wax. BUT your paint feels like glass....so rewarding..

clay bar will definitely clean up the car but its so labor intensive to do a proper job. If you jus want the bugs off before a quick wash I recommend Turtle Wax Concentrate Bug and Tar Remover. Its a thick liquid in a white pour can. Goo Gone for autos works well too but I was told it can be a bit too abrasive on some finishes.

go to your local pepboys or autozone or whatever ya have around you. Careful though ... I've seen people who never used a clay bar mess up their cars pretty nasty

I just rinse them off when I'm washing the car and that works fine. You can pickup a bottle of bug & tar remover if the bugs are tough to get off (works amazingly well), but then you have to wash your car and re-wax because the bug & tar remover strips your paint's wax as good as it gets rid of the bug guts.

Clay bar is actually extremely un-harmful to your car's paint. It simply picks up those deep contaminants and elements in your paint and does no harm to the paint. The key is to use a detail spray while claying so the clay bar glides well along your paint. A lot of clay bars come with this detail spray stuff to use as it is a necessity when claying. You just have to wash, clay, wash, and wax which is a pain in the arse.

yeah but the problem comes in when people who never used one before let the clay bar dry as they use it ... seems like a dumb mistake but a lot of people do it ... not that hard to end up putting swirls and streaks in with a claybar ... jus sayin watch out

Seems like the more common mistake with a claybar would be forgetting to re-work the material frequently. The claybar picks up nasties from the finish, but those same nasties are still on the surface of the claybar until you re-work it to find a clean surface to work with.

my brother works for Toyota and said that works VERY well

if it is less than a day old - i just scrub with soap and water with a bug and tar sponge (with the net on it)
if its older - i'll uise the turtle wax bug & tar remover -- works great!!
