Default what's a good tire?

anyone have any recommendations on a good tire?
i got 20" axis mods(245 on front, 285 on back). i have a feeling that the tires i have on there are gonna go fast. any suggestions on brands and models? i currently have kumho (came with the tires) and they seem noisy even with the windows rolled up. (my cars lowered a bit too).
i have a friend who buys tires on ebay, but i need to know which ones to look for. thanks!!! this forum rocks!!!

I've always liked Nitto 555's. I've had 3 sets and i've never really had any complaints about them. To me at least, they seem to provide a good line of comfort and performance. It may not be the best performing tire but the ride quality and durability was good. On one set, i ran 40+K miles before i decided to change them. They were 18's though, and i drive a lot of freeway miles. But it wasn't like i baby'd them either.

Nitto doesn't make the 555's in 285's, i think 275/30 ZR20 97W widest for 20's. the nitto's also have lip protection from what i remember. the tire sticks out a little to help protect your lip (somewhat) from hitting things.

Got any pics of your ride? I was looking into axis mods too, but i live a little too close to you to be riding on the same rims.

I know there are a lot of performance shops around gardena but know of any that does reasonably priced work and high quality of work?

Michelin: Pilot Sports & Pilot Sport PS2
&
Bridgestone: Potenza S-03

These are the high end, maximum performance tires. Very good, very expensive, and due to those two facts they wear quick and get pretty noisy.

If you want to reduce noise go to a tire with a higher wear indicator and a lower performance tire. Unfortunately there's no such thing as a quiet, long lasting, maximum performance tire that's cheap. You need to target what you want out of your tires, then look for something in that class.
