6MT.net Infiniti G35/G37/GTR Community - Left Side Audio Loss When Using CD Player

Another subject there hasn't been any commentary on...

I'm still without sound on the left side - it comes and goes at near-random.

Are the replacement units working without a hitch? I know I need to make sure I get a 04.5 or newer version to get the faster changer, but anything else I should ask for?

HOLY CRAP!
i have the same problem. they are replacing my CD player - AGAIN!!
if i hit the side of the console the left side comes on. i find now tho that i need to set the balance one click to the left for it to be centered.
WTF! $40K and problems like this?!?!?

Yah, got a few rattles, too. I've just not tried to get it taken care of until now. Been too busy/out of country.

I had an 02 Maxima with the same problem. It had the same exact Bose head unit and the same speakers as my G. I used to have to hit the center of the head unit with my hand and it would come back on. I eventually replace it with a new one and it was fine. I would see the dealer, as it's covered under warranty. It's a pain in the ass to deal with though.

My biggest problem is that I have a Infinity BassLink installed, I'm just waiting for the dealer to say that the installer broke it. That's why I want some other reports to finger.

This is funny to read today because my car is at the dealership right now getting a new headunit because of this problem. It started with just the left side speakers but about a week ago the right side starting acting up on me so I figured it was time for the warranty to make itself useful. I was lazy about it getting fixed cause I noticed when the speakers went out, I'd just hit the side of the center where the headunit is and that'd fix the problem, until it happened again. Hopefully a new one will work better.

FYI: I don't have the premium Bose system in my car.

I have teh Bose system for the coupe and I get this same problem. It seems to happen everytime I play a Burned CD, and some times when I play a CD that I bought. Do you know if the dealer asked you about if it happens with Burned CD's or anything like that. I would hate to have them blame it on that to get out of it. Any help would be great cuz Im gonna take it in soon, but I want it to get fixed badly!!!

yeah they have been trying to blame the problem on it not being able to play burnt cds....
such BS - burnt cds have been out FOREVER. and they cannot say that it is illegal. i own a harman/kardon home burner - the reason burners are made is for a second copy for the cd owner (ie. for car or office).
i sure hope they are not friggin telling me that i spent $40,000 on a car that can't play a stupid burnt cd?!?! this is OLD technology!
and the problems on store bought cds - but the excuse is that once you play a burnt cd - it has problems with all cds. I am glad Infiniti chose such fine electronics to put into the car. That is a horrible attribute to a head unit. what a POS.
and even better i started getting the excuse of them blaming clarion - that Infiniti has nothing to do with it - Clarion made the player. i don't give a shit - i bought the CAR from INFINITI.
sorry i sounds so mad - i was just upset after not baing able to listen to a cd on the way to work today - i HATE the radio.

So when I take it in should i take out all my burned CDs or should it not matter, Ugghhh this is such a dumb problem to deal with.

The first time I brought my car in for this, the service writer asked me a several times if I played burned CDs. I told him no each time. He said, something about how all my CDs were in non-original cases, a couple in CD cases from a CD-R package. I finally told him if he didn't believe me he could sort through my CD collection (I had 30 or so in the car) and see for himself. He finally backed down.

'Course, after all the hassle, the stereo worked flawlessly. 'Course, it died on the way home, but that seems to be the course for my dealings with the stereo.

Sigh.

yeah i would. i've been telli them i havn't used burnt cds b/c then they will proly say there is nothing they can do. even though the manual DOES NOT say to not used burnt cds.
but i've said NO - and take my burnt cds out of the car before going...

i WILL NOT accept that excuse for a $40,000 car... SORRY
