I have never owned a nice enough car where i was motivated enough to wax/polish it. So i wanted to know, i own a carribean blue G35 and was wondering what is the proper way to wax a car and what are the best products to use.
THANKs
yes, I'm wondering the same thing....
what is worth doing and what is not?
if I wash it every two weeks, what else should I do on a regular basis to keep it nice looking?
About 6 months back, I bought a clay bar kit for about 15 bucks. Made the finish as smooth as a baby's butt. After clay, I hit the car with polish followed by wax. If you are going to do the clay bar that I highly recommend, take a look first at a youtube on how to do it right.
i just bought an 04' pearl white 6mt coupe with 46300 that has been acceptionally maintained, very well documented and cared for. it stills smells new. the previous owner had purchased an Auto Butler program that Infiniti was offering back in 05'. now it has expired. would i be able to clay bar the car and wax it with Mothers or any other brand name product without harming the coats of Auto Butler?
the finish is currently not smooth but that does not mean that it has never been treated with something.
i'm not sure what to do!
right but sometimes micro fiber doesn't do a great job when it comes to drying the car!
depends what type of MF towel you use tho....there are some that with 1 single 16x16 you can dry the entire car without leaving streaks. MONSTER MICROFIBER JUMBO ABSORBER
what i use.
whenever i dry, i use The Absorber then follow immediately over it with a microfiber towel. it works wonders with the Absorber collecting the large gobs of water and the microfiber grabbing the rest.
Mother's is definitely a great wax. About once a year i'll use the cleaner wax and every month and a half to two months i'll use their carnuba wax.

Dust your car every morning with the California Car Duster. Wallmart has 'em cheap.
I like Optimum no rinse wash and shine to sponge wash it clean. You can dilute it and use it for a lubricant for your claybar.
Def use a claybar if you have impurities.
Use a paint sealant, let it cure for 8 hours, then use a carnauba wax. Remove and let it cure for 8 hours. Do another wax, remove and let it cure 8 hours.
Also, get the 3m film. Protect that paint!
