I'll be buying a new G35 Coupe in the next couple of weeks (unless it's better to wait for the 2005s. I've always driven a 5 speed, but I understand that the G35 manual transmission is the same as the 350Z manual, which I've been told has problems. Dealer I talked with today said only 15-20% of G35s are manual transmission. Any thoughts?
Go for the manual. It seems as though a lot of the complaints about the tranny have vanished - whatever it was it seems they got it fixed. Besides the tranny is covered under warranty. If you had a manual before and you like to drive one, stick with it.

My brother has a manual and I have a stick G35 and I see no diff. in performance. I can not drive a stick due to physical problem but the manual shift w/ the auto is a lot of fun and every bit as good as the manual IMO. Motor Trend even rates both the stick and auto 5.9 0-60 which is fine with me.
if you're looking for a 2005 then you'll have to wait probably til next year for a 6mt. If you're already used to a manual, you might as well get it or else you're not gonna be taking full advantage of the car. Personally, i can't wait that long to get the car so i'm going with the 5AT instead. But if you have the patience then wait til next year and get that... it even comes with 18 more HP.
If you like a MT then I would go ahead and get one. I have not heard one person on here who bought a MT say, "gee this MT is crappy...I wish I would have bought an auto"
On the other hand, I love my AT...and did not want the manual. I am very happy with the AT.
yup those were the initial figures... if you read it, it'll say figures to be released later... the most recent is the 18HP increase... I would probably bet its going to be in that range anyway since these things are never exact... i'd say between 295-300 HP...
lol np, would gladly put your ass in check anytime lol... but that increase isn't really that significant... once the 6MTs are released, you'll see guides on how to upgrade everyone elses hehe... I can barely wait til Oct/Nov for the 2005 5ATs to come out... i'd go crazy waiting til next year for the 6MT lol...
Its a shame cars are such a bad investment, my friends mortgage is lower then what my car payments will be (and thats not adding he monthly car insurence)lol.
But hey if you really want something and feel it will make you happy then you should go for it.
I have been waiting for a long time and feel very like im very close to getting this car, i rea about the additions for the 05 and im not that impressed to wait a while longer and spend more money for the 2005.

I am glad my Vette payment is less than my house payment, heck, my Vette payment is only $980 a month.
