Default '07 $1k over invoice vs. '08 $1k under MSRP?

A dealer friend of mine in TX said he can do $1,000 under MSRP on an ‘08 G35 6MT Sedan (silver/black w/ premium pkg and spoiler) ($35,115) and have it by 10/7/07

My local dealer can do $1,000 over Invoice on an ‘07 G35 6MT Sedan (silver/black w/ premium pkg and spoiler) ($34,100) and have it by 9/7/07

So a ~$1000 savings, no travel, and a month earlier on the '07. But the '08 will be a 'year newer' when I look at resale value 4-5 years from now.

What do you think ’07 vs. ’08 given that?

08 because the 07 was the first year of the new style so for the 08 all the 'bugs' will be worked out of the first year model. That is the only reason I would wait. Otherwise they are the same car, one is easier and cheaper to get. The resale shouldn't differe, I pretty much look at body style, then options, then condition, then miles, then year.

I just ordered an '08 liquid platinum/black 6MT w/ the premium pkg.

the ipod integration was pretty cool, plus XM on the non-nav car. and i'll be buying it in Dallas,TX where i can visit some friends while i'm down there.

Congrats on the 08! Do you mind sharing your pricing?

I'd go for the 08 for sure. $1,000 is not much of a difference, and when it comes to selling your car, the fact that it's an 08 instead of an 07 may get you $1,000 if not more in resale.

I was looking into the 07 G35X but now waiting for more details on the 08 for that... and to see what the 08 G35X Sport will have to offer...

Umm... I don't know about that - the 07 hasn't even been out a full year, and there are no published improvements that are being implemented in the 08. But having a model year newer than an 07 does affect resale. Wait the month. You'll thank yourself in 2008, instead of instantly owning a model-year-old vehicle the moment the ball drops in New York.
