Default Anyone having problems with the stock CD player?

When I would play a CD the left channels, both front and rear, sound low and distorted, but when I play the radio everything seems to work fine. I posted over at g35driver and found that a few people had similar experiences. Anyone here notice anything odd about the CD player?

As posted on g35driver.com

Guys/Gals,
I experienced the same problem with my non-BOSE headunit today. The driver (left) side speaker output was very low compared to the passenger (right) side when listening to the CD. The radio output levels are fine.

I preformed the following to diagnose the problem:
1) Checked the balance setting.
2) Reversed the inputs to my amp and verified the problem is with the headunit.
3) Switched to another disc in the changer with no positive outcome.
4) Verified the radio output was okay.
5) Ejected all 6 discs from the changer and reinserted one disc.

The single disc I inserted played fine! Perhaps when I ejected all the discs the headunit reset itself. This leads me to conclusion that this is not a loose connection issue, but a problem inside the headunit.

I don’t want to do this on a regular basis, but I’m glad everything is working okay once again.

Let me know if this solution works for you.

Thanks for the tip man. Still kind of an odd problem though.

I had the same exact problem.. first it was the right side, then it was the left side.. sometimes all the speakers would work fine.. sometimes none of them. I orginally thought it was my CDs because I have a lot of burned CDs, and all my real cds would always work, but then they stopped working too. SO then i just took it to the dealer and they replaced, now its fine. The problem was in the headunit

Just yesterday I started having the same exact problem that the rest of you are describing. I have the non-premium system and the front left speaker keeps going on and off while playing CD's, or it will be on and just really low compared to the rest of the speakers. Will the dealership just replace the head unit or will they try to tell me it's my imagination?

The only difference between the Premium and non-Premium are the 6x9's along the rear deck, and the "amp" that powers them.. HU's are the same in both. Just a thought

Hey John Kerry answer the question... no matter the difference in my head units, will the dealership replace it or not?

I was just pointing out that it's the same head unit. I'd assume you've read through the various threads, where multiple folks have reported that they had their head units replaced under warranty.

Did you read the threads about how ejecting all of the CDs seems to reset and fix the problem?
