Default Bose stereo display problem

car model : 2004 G35 infiniti coupe

issue : stereo display is not showing anything, I can still power on and play my cd's and radio by just guessing what is on the screen.

Plugged in another display (only display which comes with the console panel ) from a friends G35 inifiniti and still the display doesn't work (it's completely blank ).

Plugged in my friends full console (including stereo, display , a/c controls, everything ) : everything worked fine !

what might be the issue here ?

Since you eliminated the circuitboard with the AC controls as the problem, your issue is likely a shorted circuit board in the radio. Usually, when the display goes, the AC system doesn't work either.

a/c controls work fine, no issues what so ever.

I'd say that narrows it down to the head unit itself.

I don't think I would say it's the best day crap since he has to shell out some big bucks to replace it.

^ yes that part is true. Unplanned expenses are no fun. I had a small savings account put aside about a year ago waiting for my excuse to put in a new stereo... So I guess thats a little different. Moreover I seem to be the only one on this message board that is anti-BOSE. Maybe its just me but I cant stand BOSE... I am also a home / car stereo maniac though so maybe my standards are a little off.
