Default Double Din install done

Here we go. Got this done today. Still tinkering with all the features so far so good. Sorry about the lighting.

I will probably do some more work on it next week. The installer switched the dual A/C control for me and also grounded the e-brake wire so I can watch dvd while driving. I didn't even ask for that (I had a DIY Install that I got off the web that I left with the box of items. He saw it and did it off there- don't have it in front of me but, need to give props to the original writer of the manual; will do so once I get it). The install kit that came with the head unit was near impossible to put it. Pattyskin, Help!! Do you have any suggestion as to what I can do to clean up that space?

Oh yeah, I'm no expert in these things. Really thought long and hard to do this with one of my buddies, my fear won me over! Took it in to a radio installer. Please...don't shame me...

Clean up what? The small gap around the HU? I'm not sure what you're asking

I'll have to take some more pics tomorrow; from afar it looks fine but while in the car it looks a bit funny. They gaps are more noticable. What trim u used around you HU, did it come with the unit or did you purchase that yourself?

I made a piece to fill in that gap out of 1/4 inch MDF and some flat black spray paint.

Definitely my next project; were can I get MDF? Did you have to take apart your dash to do it again?

Here are a few that might help. I started with a cardboard template and kept trimming it to fit. Then I traced it onto the MDF and cut it with a jigsaw to fit, sanded the edges and painted it.

Wow Gilley, that's a really good looking custom job you did there. Looks like it was always meant to be there.

Cool beans man. I was wondering if it is possible to connect an aftermarket HU to the car and have it still sound decent running through the stock bose amp? The reason I ask is because I would like to do one thing at a time and just replace the HU before the amp and speakers. Also, considering there is such little space for an aftermarket amp in the back, I doubt I will ever replace anything back there.
