Some noteworthy technical bits on the car: (from Motor Trend)
3.8L V-6 info
Peak HP = 310 @ 6000rpm
Weight/hp = 11.6 lbs./ hp. (better than 335i coupe)
Peak TQ. = 263 lb.-ft. @ 4700rpm (7 less than G37, but 500 rpm sooner)
2.0L I-4t
Rated 210hp, 217 tq bla bla bla,
BUT…engine is the product of the same manufacturing alliance that produced the Evo and SRT-4 engines !!! With a stock comp ratio of 9.3, the factory left lots of headroom for tuners, claiming the engines are capable of taking up to 29 lbs. boost !!!
TRANS
6MT, 5AT, or 6AT (from ZF)
DIFF
Torsen LSD (standard equip)
BRAKES
Top models get:
Brembo 4-piston monoblocs on 13.4” cross-drilled (F) and 13.0 solid (R)
Wheels
19” on top models
CHASSIS
Claimed rigidity surpasses previous generation M3 (their benchmark) by 24%
PRICE
Not finalized, but expect $8k spread between base and top models; if base is sub 20K, then it possibly puts the price of a fairly well equipped V-6 model around $25k!! Hyundai claims they are committed to selling the lowest priced 300hp, rear-drive car in the USA.
If Hyundai can pull this off for anything close to that pricing, it will definitely shake up a whole lot of companies.
