In general the larger turbos are more efficient at compressing and moving large volumes of air.......so generally speaking one large turbo can get you the power cheaper (easier piping).
However smaller twins can spool up quicker giving you a more responsive bottom end.
To the OP, IMHO you need to start with a budget and power/performance goals before you start shopping (daily triver, road course car, 1/4 mile car, etc.). If you are looking for big power, then most guys suggest you build your engine. I would look for a good reputable tuner before buying and get their input on what can be done and how much it will cost to set up your car the way you want it.
