^^^I generally agree with the article but have several concerns/comments:
1. Autobahn speeds do point that faster can result in less accidents, however the Autobahn is specifically designed and built to support high speeds. In some cases freeways are not able to sustain higher speeds safely.
2. Road rage is real. In general people shift between aggressive and conservative driving habits, many times during the same trip.
3. Lower speed limits were first introduced for energy conservation, not safety. One thing that is counterintuitive is that you can usually service more people by driving slowly. As speeds increase, so do/should the gaps between cars. Slower speeds, smaller gaps, you can usually flow more vehicles. It's more frustrating, but usually serves the greater good.
