Bad US economy the foreign tourists come here. Good US economy the US citizens come here. Really the boom here isn't so much tourism it's the housing market. So many new highrises, condos, time shares. It's been hopping since 2001. I had a chance to buy then, but I thought the market was going to bottom out. After 7 years the market hasn't even leveled off.
As far as relocating here. High cost of living. The guy can get a job here, but it's not necessarily going to pay high. That's the tradeoff in Hawaii.
