I do get your point though, but let's not be too quick to dismiss the opinions of professionals. In an age where so many people take to gospel of what they see on web site's and blog's you have to draw a line between a person who earns his/her living from what they do as a profession. Sure they don't know everything, but I'm sure they know more than most, when that's what they do everyday.
i conceede they are professional journalists but i think the individuals' test drive is what should count and should be given creedance to. i see car mags as fun and informative in that they give information about the car's specs as well as the writer's opinionated flair. but i feel my deciding factor of what car trumps over another is left on my own (and a salesman's willingness to let me be free...lol).

of course i would take an auto journalists opinion over a random noob on the web asking about hp gains in fuel additives. my point is as impartial as they try to be, they are human too where their heart strings are pulled by certain cars...and in that respect their opinions should only be taken as that...just opinions.
