Well.. yesterday I was coming out of a trail from the woods onto a main trail and these 2 kids on dirtbikes come out from the same woods trail and onto the main trail that I was on and start coming up towards me from behind me... so I moved almost all the way over to one side of the trail, maybe like 2 feet from the edge of the 15 to 20 foot wide trail. The trail is covered in Mogules(small reverberating hills that repeat rhytmically like every 7 or 8 feet for about 1/2 a mile straight). The kid on the bike who was leading drives by the side of me dangerously close to me... maybe like 2 or 3 feet next to me, and guns his bike as he passes me... so that his rear tire spun like crazy and started shooting dirt and rocks everywhere. Fortunately none of it hit me, but it did send a big cloud of dust all around me... so I was obviously annoyed by this fuckin douchebags arrogance and stupid attempt to show off.
What happens next... I had to laugh at(at least in my head). The kid gets maybe 30 feet past me and had built up way too much speed for the mogules he was going over, and he planted his front tire right in the middle of the uphill part of the next mogule and spills his bike hard at like 35 MPH.... sending him tumbilng and skidding through the dirt like a rag doll for a good 10 feet in a huge cloud of dust.
I'm not one to laugh at other peoples misfortune, but this whole thing was pretty freakin hysterical to see happen right in front of my eyes after the way he just blasted by me in such a rude fashion.
I caught up to him about 10-15 seconds after his crash just as he was starting to get up. The kid was probably about 20 or 21 years old and he was hunching forward sorta wearily and holding his right arm with his left one. I asked him if he was OK as I came up to him and he sorta looked up and shamefully nodded, although his nod wasn't that convincing... so I didn't really stop and stick around since he did have his buddy there with him and we were within a quarter mile of a main street and they needed a phone or something.
The kids bike was pretty messed up too. The handlebars were all bent, as was his foot peg and either clutch or kickstart lever, his front fender was ripped off and all the plastic on the side of his bike was messed up and broken. I'm Not even sure if it was rideable... since I continued running on down the trail for about another mile and never heard them start up their bikes again.
Hopefully the kid was OK though. A part of me feels bad that he fell off and wrecked his bike and maybe got hurt, but it was his own damn fault for being stupid. Then there's another part of me that thinks it would have been funny if I had gone by and imitated his actions only in jogging form....you know...peel out with my feet and throw dust at him as i accelerate to full sprint.
