But the point everyone seems to be implying is that the KKK and southern racists in general did this. If you look objectively at what was said, it plainly makes no sense. It really looks like he's a poor standup or really out of practice and his comeback was weak and poorly chosen.

I seriously doubt this. He is going to get sued and settle out of court. I would not be too surprised if the guys who did the heckling did not want this type of result. Keep your eyes peeled, if they did not get a lawyer already, they will. The bloodsuckers will come in and tempt those guys with gifts of fame and fortune, it is their chance for 15 minutes of fame with a big payout.
