i've played anything from penny machines to $100 machines and been hit jackpots of 1000,2000,3000,5000,10000,15000 and 25000 multiple times in the pass.
here're few things that i learned:
1- in long run,the house ALWAYS win,they built millions/billions casino for 1 thing Win your money.
2-bankroll. have enough funds to absort losses.oviously you can't bring $20 in and expect to hit jackpot in the first few pulls.unless you are extremely lucky and in the right place at the right time.
3-have present of mind of expecting a total lost before entering the casino.mentally prepare for a lost outing,that's way i won't hurt that bad when it usually happens.
4-discipline - set a game plan and stick by it.know when to stop or move to another machine.trust your instinct (normally this is deveplop though experience)
5-limits - set your limits.bring only what you afford to loose.set your limit at machines.example: when you sit down at a machine tell yourself to get up and leave if you loose $40 or win $60 at this machine.
6-machines -avoid "sucker machine" such as progessive jackpot like megabucks/wheel of fotune and multi-line video slots ect...which has a large a mount of jackpot.those will goes thru your wallet in no time.but do try a little once in a while just to see "Lucky God" is looking down on you.
7-find a machine 3 reels / 1 line that offers a all winning even if you play 1 coin (some machine only pay out jackpot only if you play maximum 2,3 or 5 coins.yes,i'm telling you play 1 coin only.or else you'll loose 2,3 or 5 times quicker.prolong your bank roll.let say you are playing $5 machine and wanting to increase the bet for awhile? instead of playing 2 coins,move to a $10 machine and play 1 coin.90% of all my winning were playing 1 coin only.
8- if you can play on big money machines.i played $5 machine most of the timeS.it look to me like high money machines pay out more offen then low money machines.also let say you hit a 400 coins win at quarter machine,that's only $100 or only $20 if you're on nickel machine.but if you are playing $5 machine? you'll walk away with 2 grands.
9- moving - about 90% of all my winnings are happened in the first few minutes or few pulls.if you play $1 machine? put twenty in and walk away if you lost that 20 or at $5 machine,put 100 in and walk if you lost that.there is no such thing as ALMOST.some people see 2 diamond symbols line up and a 7 almost line up..they think it's almost and very soon they will line up.Wrong...or someone think if they already play that machine for 2 hours and lost several hundred,the machine is almost pay out or due..Wrong again.much like rule #5 if you hit a fare amount win,walk away...the chance of hit again is slim to none before you loose back what you just won.
10- did i mention the Casino ALWAYS win in the long run?

to win $1000 on black jack you have to bet $1 and win 1000 consecutive times (not counting black jack which pays 1 1/2)
on $1 slot machine for $1000 you have 1000 pull playing 1 coin.in those 1000 pulls there's chance that you will win $1000,$750,$500,$300 and so on.i'm sure you will win small amount like $5,$10,$20,$50 many times.see the differents? again,the important thing is know when to stop.
