I enjoyed the movie, here's why:

- no special effects
- no big name actors
- no big name director
- just a little movie coming across as sincere.

Okay, the idea of taking my best friend to Santa Barbara for his bachelor party is gay, I agree. I would never do that, Vegas, Sydney, Amsterdam or Bangkok, here we come.

But, did you believe the story? Did you believe the motives behind it? Could you believe that this loser was going with this loser to sample some wine and meet nice people in Santa Barbara? Could you believe that one loser was stealing money from his mom. Could you believe him as he found a new girlfriend?

My cousin didn't like it either, but I appreciated the movie for its sincerity and smallness.

Sometimes you get a movie like Titanic (crappy love story, will somebody shoot Celine Deon please), Saving Private Ryan (good movie, big budget, big FX), or Gladiator (still scratching my head about that one) nominated as best picture.

This movie had none of that and it was still convincing. You may not like the story, you may not be able to relate to this story, and I would partially agree with you. But it's acting was decent enough for this little movie to allow you to believe the story-telling.

Hollywood these days has forgotten how to tell a story without some big budget, big director, big actor and lots and lots and lots of special effects.
