Good point. They run different schemes because of their speed and athleticism that other teams can't. They also make up 23% of the teams salary cap. Until yesterday they hadn't allowed a sack in 9 quarters.

Without decent protection a quarterback doesn't have time to go through all of his checks to find the best reciever, space to plant his feet correctly or throw an accurate pass. Denver rushed NINE players almost every play of the first half against Philly. That is only possible if you don't have a running game and the line is not picking up the blitzers.

A one dimensional passing offense can also be detrimental to the defense. The other team will typically have more time of possession and wear down the D as the game progresses.
