GP, honestly the guy shouldn't be an a-hole and make you feel responsible for this. He chose to drive and he chose to speed and he got caught. I understand if he was upset that his friends and you left but at the same time what were ya supposed to do? Stay the night somewhere when ya could come back in the morning? Well, IMO it's not your fault, he chose to drive so he should take responsibility.
On the other topic of DUI's, I drank 2 beers, Hineys, in one hour. I was driving my friend back home to VA and I guess I was speeding and my friend was like, 'Hey slow down there are a lot of cops here. ' I'm like, 'Fook the cops, they ain't got shit on me.' As soon as I said that I saw lights behind me. FOOK, turn the damn rap music down! So I get pulled over and the cop smells alcohol on my breath and asks me how much I drank. I tell him only 2 because that was the truth. Then he's like, 'I've been doing this a long time and you smell like you had more than that, get out of the car.' Geez, what a polite piggy
Anyways, he gives me the field test and I pass all of them. Then he makes me do the breathalizer. I blew a 0.029, HAH! Well he tells me that he used to be a cop in the Air Force and usually he loves to give officers tickets but he let me go without a speeding ticket. :P So I don't know where you get 0.04 per drink but it wasn't the case with me.
