FYI - I've got a friend who's experienced the blue screen of death many a time. He runs double removable hard drives now. Just in case one dies he can pop the other one in and use it as the boot drive.
One is primarily to house his programs and the other he uses to primarily store information/files. Something you might want to look into in the future.
