Here's the way I see it:

I'm sure at some point, the will make a auto tranny that no human can match in terms of how fast and accurately it can shift. However, the reason we enthusiasts like manual transmissions is not completely tied to how well it can technically "perform." Driving stick is a completely different feeling than driving auto. Some people just prefer the experience of driving a vehicle instead of steering it.
